Hello!

We are Jen and Taka Sithole and we are so glad you’re here.

We met in Zimbabwe in 2015 while Jen was working on a volunteer service trip, partnering with the organization Taka was working for at the time. During Jen’s time in Zimbabwe, she became aware of the stigmas and challenges girls often faced during menstruation in a real and raw way. The lack of access to feminine hygiene products, often resulting in school absence and girls dropping out of school could not be ignored or forgotten. Believing that there was a solution to this issue, we began laying the foundations of what would become The Restoration Hem Project.

When we starting building The Restoration Hem Project, period related programming had not yet hit the scene in the charity or development sector. Pulling from stories, experiences, and the advice of friends and colleagues, we built The Restoration Hem Project brick by brick, or mbijana mbichana as we say in Zimbabwe, alongside our amazing team in Zimbabwe and with the help of our generous donor community.

We are honored to lead The Restoration Hem Project and hope that you will join us on this incredible journey! We are just getting started.

Join us in building a world where no girl misses school because of her period.
